WHY ARE MY TEETH SENSITIVE?

Gum recession is caused by bone recession. This allows the root surface of the tooth to become exposed, giving food and water easier access to this sensitive area. There are a number of ways we can help you manage this.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREVENT GUM DISEASE AND TOOTH DECAY?

Brushing twice a day and flossing daily is the best way to take care of your teeth and gums on a continual basis. Keeping regular preventive care appointments with one of our hygienists is also imperative when it comes to minimizing your risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Whether it’s been months or years since your last preventive care appointment, we would love to see you! Call us today to schedule an appointment.

WHAT IS GINGIVITIS?

Gingivitis is a condition caused when bacteria surround the teeth and enter the gums. The gums can become irritated, inflamed, and often bleed. Bleeding gums are NOT normal! In order to prevent the condition from worsening, regular hygiene visits are recommended. If left untreated, gingivitis becomes periodontal disease.

WHAT IS PERIODONTAL DISEASE?

Periodontal disease (also known as pyorrhea) starts as gingivitis. The gums become irritated, inflamed, and often bleed. If not properly treated, the condition worsens. More teeth are lost from periodontal disease than cavities. Noticeable symptoms include:

  • Bad breath
  • Bone and gum recession
  • Tooth pain and sensitivity
  • Tooth loss

We have the capability to improve your smile using all or some of these procedures. For an exact consultation, please contact our office so that we may provide you with a customized treatment plan.

HOW DO YOU TREAT PERIODONTAL DISEASE?

Periodontal disease is a chronic condition that requires immediate attention. Treatment can include periodontal cleanings, root planning and scaling, laser therapy, and antibiotics. Periodontal surgery may be necessary if this disease is left untreated.

Tooth whitening is a cost-effective and safe procedure to create a beautiful, bright smile. You will see results in a short period of time, and the whitening effects are long-lasting. If you’re interested in having a whiter smile, call us today.

WHAT ARE CROWNS?

Crowns are a permanent cosmetic procedure that cover the entire tooth. It can improve the size, shape and color of the teeth. Crowns are often the best option for aesthetic and long-lasting results when teeth have large, defective fillings.

WHAT ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS?

Porcelain veneers are thin laminate overlays made of porcelain that adhere to your natural teeth. This procedure can be used to repair fractured teeth, teeth darkened by age or medication, or a crooked smile.

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A dental implant is a permanent replacement for a missing tooth that looks and functions like your natural tooth.
